The Monocoque Cabin is at Tyrley Locks on the Shropshire Union Canal, two miles south of Market Drayton in north Shropshire, close to the Staffordshire border. It's a farm stay in the plain sense: the cabin sits in its own garden on a working dairy farm, and the canal towpath runs along the edge of the garden.
There's parking for one car at the cabin. Market Drayton has no railway station and buses are limited, so a car is the easiest way to get here. Your arrival instructions, with directions to the gate, come the day before you arrive.
Market Drayton is about 40 minutes along the towpath. The path isn't lit, so walk it in daylight.
Tyrley has a flight of five locks, and in summer narrowboats work through them past the garden. Kingfishers and herons feed along this stretch, and early morning is the best time to see them. You can fish from the towpath with an Environment Agency rod licence and a permit from the angling club that controls this stretch of canal.
