About the Monocoque Cabin
The Monocoque Cabin is an architect-designed cabin for two beside the Shropshire Union Canal at Tyrley Locks, two miles from Market Drayton in north Shropshire. It sits in its own garden on a working dairy farm, close to the Staffordshire border and within reach of Stafford, Shrewsbury and Telford.
I designed and built it with friends in 2023, after winning a grant from Airbnb's OMG! Fund. The garden is private and looks over the canal and fields, and well-behaved dogs are welcome. Guests come for romantic weekends away, dog-friendly walking breaks, solo stays and time to think or make things.

- Dog walks and cycling routes from the door, starting with the canal towpath
- Kingfishers and herons on the canal, and fishing from the towpath (you'll need a rod licence and a club permit)
Most mornings start with birdsong and coffee by the canal, and on a clear night you can sit out under the stars.
